November, 2022.- Within the framework of the Chilean Conference on Computing, the Millennium Institute Foundational Research on Data held the V School of Fundamentals of Data in face-to-face format, with more than 40 participants in a full day. This meeting seeks to bring data research techniques, from different areas of work, to students and academics and people interested in the subject in general.
IMFD researchers Claudio Gutiérrez, Aidan Hogan and Matías Toro, academics from the Dept. Computer Science from the University of Chile (DCC UChile); together with Ignacio Meza, DCC UChile, and Pablo Badilla (CENIA), they gave a series of talks and practical workshops during the day, which lasted from 9 in the morning to 5:30 p.m.
Those who participated learned from the theoretical foundations of a data project, how to prepare and clean datasets, organize data, and ethical considerations of working with data, as well as conduct a workshop on word-embeddings and their uses.
The Chilean Conference on Computing (JCC2022) convenes the most relevant names in computer science and informatics at a national level, and is recognized by the two most important world scientific societies in their field, such as Association for Computering Machinery (ACM) e IEEE. This year they were held at the San Sebastián University, on its Bellavista campus (Santiago).
