September 2022.- With a wide call, a new Research Seminar was held at the offices of the Millennium Institute Fundamentals of Data located in the UC Innovation Center. This time, the research “Differential Privacy: how to make privacy and data mining compatible” was given, presented by Federico Olmedo, an academic from the Department of Computer Science at the University of Chile and a young IMFD researcher.
During the presentation, it was revealed that the idea of differential privacy is that useful information is given to the population but without giving out the personal and confidential data of an individual, such as medical data or the electoral roll. By this it is meant that a data mining analysis would not allow more specific information to be revealed.
Professors, researchers and students had the opportunity to ask questions, complement information and thus generate an interdisciplinary instance, being one of the main objectives that each IMFD Research Seminar seeks to achieve.
