Chile will host scientific meeting on artificial intelligence with a human focus

November, 2022. A unique opportunity for the scientific community in Chile is offered by the first MIT-Chile Human Centered AI & Visualization Research Workshop. MIT-Chile Human Centered AI & Visualization Research Workshop, to be held in Chile in January 2023, which will bring together national and international experts in cutting-edge research in artificial intelligence, data visualization and natural language processing. It will be held in Santiago and Concepción.

The meeting, which in its Santiago version will be held at the San Joaquín campus of the Universidad Católica de Chile, is organized by Belén Saldías, director of the event, (MIT, Ph.D. Candidate); Maggie Hughes, as academic program co-director (MIT, Ph.D. Candidate), and Denis Parra, academic program co-director, UC Computing academic, researcher at CenIA, iHealth and IMFD.

"This workshop focuses on the intersection between artificial intelligence and data visualization, to analyze - from the perspective of scientific research - how work in these areas can have a positive social impact and also to understand how their applications affect all of us," says Belén Saldías.

"We will have the opportunity to discuss a variety of topics, from how computers understand human language to the visualization of complex data as it relates to social systems. We will also address the issue of interpretability in artificial intelligence and the ethical considerations of our efforts," says Denis Parra.

The program includes Chilean and international experts very prominent in their fields, who will address the research carried out both at MIT and at other universities and centers, through lectures and tutorials. "It will be a workshop where we can exchange ideas, learn, talk, and learn about the advances that are being carried out at MIT, CenIA, iHealth and IMFD," adds Belén Saldías.

The event will be held in Santiago de Chile from January 10 to 13, 2023. It will have two lines of activities: conferences and practical workshops.

MIT-Chile Human Centered AI & Visualization Research Workshop is a collaborative initiative of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)the MIT Global Experiencies MIT Global ExperienciesCenter, the P. Catholic University of Chile, the National Center for Artificial Intelligence (CENIA), the Millennium Institute in Engineering and Artificial Intelligence for Health (iHealth), and the and the Millennium Institute Foundational Research on Data.
