April, 2024.- With more than 30 attendees, the Millennium Institute Foundational Research on Data (IMFD) started the new IMFD Space, a cycle of activities that will combine research seminars, lectures, discussions and others. This cycle aims to promote the interdisciplinary research that characterizes the IMFD and also to generate activities that support and encourage IMFD students to position themselves in the world of academia.
The discussion: Publish or Perish: strategies for academic publishing, was moderated by IMFD researcher Magdalena Saldaña, Faculty of Communications UC, and was attended by IMFD researchers Gonzalo Navarro, DCC U. Chile; Hans Löbel, DCC UC; Sebastián Valenzuela, Faculty of Communications UC; and IMFD researcher Jocelyn Dunstan, IMC – DCC UC.
Students of the institute actively participated in the activity, who had the opportunity to share and clarify their doubts about the world of academic publications, and also actively addressed the differences in the area between the different disciplines in which the speakers participated.
The IMFD Space is an initiative of the IMFD Academic Direction, and it is expected to hold one session per month, in which different topics of interest will be addressed, both for researchers and students of the institute.
