Marzo 2023.-The Millennium Institute Foundational Research on Data offers its researchers, students and teams the Alberto Mendelzon room of the Department of Computer Science of the University of Chile as IMFD space.
“The collaborative and interdisciplinary work, which brings together leading national researchers and experts in data, is what defines our institute,” explained Camila Diaz Foxon, executive director of the IMFD, at the inauguration of the room. “The University of Chile is one of our host institutions, and this space seeks for our teams to integrate and share their capabilities, this is what we are interested in promoting, as well as consolidating our presence in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Chile.
The room is named after Alberto Mendelzon, one of the pioneering scientists in the foundations of relational databases and an international leader in database theory. At the inauguration, IMFD researcher and DCC U. Chile academic, Claudio Gutierrez, referred to Mendelzon’s close relationship with Chilean scientists, highlighting him as a great mentor and friend, who visited our country and was an important promoter of studies and research in the area that were carried out in Chile. The space, located on the second floor of the west tower of Beauchef 851, is available to researchers, students and the IMFD team.
