Trust Under Threat: Findings from the 2025 Expert Survey

📅 Miércoles 22 de octubre | 16:00 BST | 17:00 CEST

The International Panel on the Information Environment (IPIE) invites you to a timely discussion of its third annual Expert Survey, which captures the views of 438 researchers from 76 countries on the health of the global information environment

This year’s findings paint a stark picture: 72% of experts expect the information environment to deteriorate, marking the third consecutive rise in pessimism. The survey highlights three urgent trends shaping global debate and scholarship:

Rising pessimism – Escalating concerns about disinformation, polarization, and systemic vulnerabilities.

Intensifying Concerns Over Platforms – Growing warnings about the dominance, opacity, and lack of accountability of digital platforms.

Mounting Pressures on Researchers – Increasing evidence of self-censorship, harassment, and funding challenges among those studying these issues.

In this webinar, our expert speakers will unpack the survey’s fundings, explore their implications for policymakers, platforms, and civil society, and reflect on what these global perceptions mean for the future of trust and accuracy in public information.

Join us for this critical conversation on the state of the world’s information environment and the challenges ahead.
