IMFD co-organizes 10th edition of LA-WEB conference in the United States

Bárbara Poblete, researcher at our institute and academic at the Department of Computer Science (DCC) of Universidad de Chile, was one of the organizers of LA-WEB 2019: 10th Latin-American Web Congress, an event that was part of The Web Conference (WWW) in San Francisco, United States.

The Web Conference is the most important conference worldwide in web research.

LA-WEB 2019 took place on May 14 and had the IMFD as co-organizer, along with the Chilean Computer Science Society (SCCC), Nic Chile, Nic BR, and CGI BR. The goal? To bring together the Latin American community working on web-related topics.

As part of WWW, IMFD researchers at Universidad Católica presented on recommender systems and also on how people visually share, on social platforms like Instagram, their perception of cultural and artistic events. Denis Parra, Manuela Garretón, and Germán Cheuque spoke about topics related to these subjects. Germán Cheuque also presented on bitcoin price prediction, work he carried out together with Juan Reutter, researcher at the institute.
