RESEARCH AREAS

This line of research brings together specialists in computer science, statistics, and social sciences to study complex social phenomena using advanced data analysis techniques. The main focus is on developing innovative diagnostic tools that integrate multiple variables and disciplinary perspectives.

The methodology is based on a mixed approach, combining qualitative methods (such as ethnographic work and interviews) with quantitative methods (such as statistical modeling and machine learning). Special emphasis is placed on triangulating big data with social science tools, as well as integrating data from different spatial units of analysis.

The leaders of this line of research are Juan Luna, from the School of Government at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, and Sergio Toro Maureira, director of the School of Government at the Universidad Mayor.

The research team for this line of research is made up of Juan (Department of Computer Science, Pontifical Catholic University of Chile), Marcelo Mendoza ( Department of Computer Science, Pontifical Catholic University of Chile), Carla Alberti (Institute of Political Science, Pontifical Catholic University of Chile), Hans Löbel (Department of Computer Science, Pontifical Catholic University of Chile), Andres Abeliuk (Department of Computer Science, University of Chile), Hugo Rojas ( Department of Law, Alberto Hurtado University), Domingo Mery (Department of Computer Science, Pontifical Catholic University of Chile), and Jocelyn Dunstan Escudero (Institute of Computational Mathematical Engineering and Department of Computer Science, Pontifical Catholic University of Chile)
