LINES OF RESEARCH

This line of research brings together specialists in computer science, statistics and social sciences to study complex social phenomena through advanced data analysis techniques. The main focus is to develop innovative diagnostic tools that integrate multiple variables and disciplinary perspectives.

The methodology is based on a mixed approach, combining qualitative methods (such as ethnographic work and interviews) with quantitative methods (such as statistical modeling and machine learning). Special emphasis is placed on the triangulation of massive data with social science tools, as well as on the integration of data from different spatial units of analysis.

The leaders of this line of research are Juan Pablo Luna, from the School of Government of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and Sergio Toro Maureira, director of the School of Government of the Universidad Mayor.

The working team of this research line is formed by Juan Reutter (Department of Computer Science, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile), Marcelo Mendoza (Department of Computer Science, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile), Carla Alberti (Institute of Political Science, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile), Hans Löbel (Department of Computer Science, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile), Andres Abeliuk (Department of Computer Science, Universidad de Chile), Hugo Rojas (Department of Law Sciences, Universidad Alberto Hurtado), Domingo Mery (Department of Computer Science, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile) and Jocelyn Dunstan Escudero (Institute of Computational Mathematical Engineering and Department of Computer Science, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile).
