Aidan Hogan
Full Professor at the Department of Computer Science of the Universidad de Chile, where he also served as Director from July 2024 to July 2026. PhD in Computer Science from the University of Galway, Ireland. He came to Chile in 2013 after working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Digital Enterprise Research Institute (DERI, Galway). At IMFD, he is Deputy Director and is part of the Emerging Requirements research line.
His work focuses on the semantic web and knowledge graphs: how to structure and connect dispersed information so it can be queried and interpreted at scale. He is co-author of Knowledge Graphs (Springer, 2021) and author of The Web of Data (Springer, 2020), aimed at computer science teaching.
He is co-creator and editor-in-chief of the Transactions on Graph Data and Knowledge open-access journal, and has served on the program committees of international conferences such as AAAI, CIKM, ESWC, ICDT, IJCAI, ISWC, SIGKDD, SIGMOD, and WWW. He has been recognized as Best Undergraduate Teacher at the Universidad de Chile in 2016 and 2020, based on evaluations by the students themselves. In 2026 he received the SIGMOD Outstanding Program Committee Member recognition for his work as a reviewer. That same year, Research.com ranked him among the top four researchers in Chile in Computer Science in the Best Computer Science Scientists in Chile ranking.
