The 13th Meeting of Women in Computing – ChileWiC 2025 was a great success.
More than two hundred attendees came to the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Chile to be part of ChileWiC 2025, a space designed to bring together female students, academics, and professionals in the fields of computing and STEM.

With the aim of sharing experiences, strengthening support networks, and raising awareness of women's work in technology, the meeting took place on November 28 in the Enrique D'Etigny Auditorium at the FCFM. The event sought to open relevant conversations about gender gaps and promote the participation and retention of more women in disciplines related to computing.
The day began with welcoming remarks from Aidan Hogan, director of the UCH Department of Computer Science and deputy director of the IMFD, who reminded attendees that significant challenges in terms of equity still exist. "Computing should serve all of humanity. The underrepresentation of women has direct consequences: from models that prioritize male curricula to systems that reinforce stereotypes. The solution is simple to say but challenging to execute: improve the representation of women in our discipline. Spaces like this—of celebration, solidarity, and organization—are essential to moving toward a more just and diverse computing," he said.

The program included keynote speeches by Carolina Bonacic (USACH) and Francisca Gil (CENIA), as well as practical workshops, presentations, and a poster session that allowed participants from different institutions to share their projects.
At the close of the meeting, DCC UChile academic Jocelyn Simmonds, co-founder of the event, highlighted the impact of the activity, emphasizing that it was a significant space for networking, learning, and inspiration for women who are building a future in technology.
