Through the compilation, integration and modeling of existing data on social problems in Chile and the comparative analysis of other countries, we are generating high value knowledge that will allow us to contribute to a more complete understanding of the causes and key factors behind the sociopolitical conflict in the contemporary society.
Graph databases, the system that stores information in the form of nodes using the connections among data, are widely used today. The Millennium Institute Foundational Research on Data is working on the development of new query languages to extract information from large volume of data, and also in new techniques for its efficient storage and retrieving.
The heterogeneity of data sources and formats, and the distribution and masivenness they have reached, are only some of the obstacles in the way to achieve a system for efficient and intelligent information extraction. We are working on the creation of new languages able to provide safe and accurate answers to highly demanding requirements over complex sets of data.
Misinformation and malicious information have caused high negative impact on society, generating a loss of confidence in the institutions historically in charge of the information production, such as media, science or governments. Our institute aims to generate robust information structures, that is, true knowledge, from unstructured data sources.
We explore the foundational problems on data to understand it in all of its complexity
Our five research pillars are the foundation for the development of emblematic and interdisciplinary projects.
INNOVATION AND TECH TRANSFER
We can provide assessment and collaboration in the study of solutions in a variety of areas related to data, for the public and private sector.
