ChileWiC 2024 general registration is now open! - Millennium Institute Foundational Research on Data

October 2024 - We are pleased to announce the the opening of registrations for ChileWiC 2024the XII Meeting of Women in Computing. This event is a unique opportunity to share, learn and connect with women and young people in the world of computing and informatics.

Throughout the meeting, you will be able to participate in talks given by women leaders in the technological field, who will share their experiences and knowledge. You will also be able to see the projects presented by competing students, demonstrating innovation and emerging talent in the area.

The Millennium Institute Foundational Research on Data supports this event, which actively seeks to reduce the gender gap in computing in our country.

In Chile, only 25% of those entering careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics are women, and only 7% of undergraduate graduates in these areas are women. This is also reflected in the field of scientific research: of the total number of researchers in the country, 35% are women, according to the Ministry of Science's Gender Radiography study.

The study that analyzes the gender gap in academia and research, presented by Observes from the Ministry of Science in 2021, also reveals the salary gap in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) areas, reaching a 16% difference between men and women.
