Leopoldo Bertossi

Leopoldo Bertossi is Full Professor at the Faculty of Engineering and Sciences of Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez (UAI), where he is the Director of the Graduate Program in Data Science. He is also a member of the Executive Board of the “Data Observatory Foundation” (Chile), of which UAI is a founding partner. He holds a Bachelor’s degree, a Master’s degree, and a PhD in Mathematics from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC).

His research interests focus on Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. His research has centered on the areas of computational logic, knowledge representation, data management, and machine learning.

He is Professor Emeritus at the School of Computer Science of Carleton University (Ottawa, Canada), Senior Computer Scientist at RelationalAI Inc. (Berkeley, USA), and Senior Researcher at the Millennium Institute Foundational Research on Data (IMFD). He has been a professor at the faculties of Mathematics and Engineering at PUC (until 2001), a visiting professor at the University of Toronto and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and an invited researcher at the Vienna University of Technology, the Technical University of Berlin, the University of Marseille (Luminy), the University of Calabria, and the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano. He has also served as President of the Chilean Computer Science Society (SCCC).
