Barbara Poblete
Bárbara Poblete is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science (DCC) at the University of Chile and an adjunct researcher at the Millennium Institute Foundational Research on Data (IMFD). She holds a PhD from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Spain and was a researcher at Yahoo Labs for six years, where she conducted applied research for industry. Currently, she works in the areas of data mining, social network analysis and web information retrieval. Her research focuses, since 2011, on the topic of credibility in social networks. She was the first to address this topic in the world and is widely recognized by the international scientific community. Her work has been disseminated by leading media such as Scientific American Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Slate Magazine, The Huffington Post, BBC News, among others. She has more than 80 first level international scientific publications and is currently co-Chair of The Web Conference 2021 track on Web Mining and Content Analysis.
