IMFD Signs Cooperation Agreement with Servel

“It is of the utmost importance to have signed this agreement, particularly because of the multidisciplinary component of our institute, where political science plays a fundamental role. With the data, experience, and people who work at Servel, we hope to have a very strong collaboration,” said Marcelo Arenas, director of the Millennium Institute for Foundational Research on Data (IMFD) and academic at the Department of Computer Science (DCC) of the U. Católica, following the signing of a reciprocal collaboration agreement between the Electoral Service of Chile (Servel) and the IMFD, which took place last week.

On September 3, both institutions signed a framework cooperation agreement to promote collaboration in areas of common interest, such as research, training, and technology transfer. This includes sponsorship of activities organized by either institution, facilitating access to libraries or documentation centers of each organization, conducting analyses and developing databases, organizing conferences and seminars, and other strengthening, support, and training initiatives.

“This agreement that we have sealed with the Millennium Institute for Foundational Research on Data is of the utmost importance, because it will allow us to have an institution of the caliber of this institute to carry out studies and analyses, and thereby provide relevant and useful information and conclusions for the public,” said Servel’s national director, Raúl García.

Attending the signing of the agreement were Raúl García; Marcelo Arenas; Alfredo Joignant, Servel board member -pictured on the right-; Carlos García, head of Servel’s Legal Advisory Unit; and Daniela Hormazábal, researcher on the Governing Council of the Electoral Service.
