IMFD Students Win at “Data Challenge in the Cloud” Hackathon

September 2024.- The hackathon was held at the Google Chile offices with the presence of the sponsors: Le WagonKaggle and Google Cloud, with the aim of taking the learning and application of cloud technologies and data science to a new level in our region.

The first-place winners of the hackathon were: Luis Miranda and Cristobal Vásquez, students of the UC Department of Computer Science and of the Millennium Institute Foundational Research on Data (IMFD), together with DCC UC students Oscar Loch and Rodrigo Pozo (master’s student), Cristobal Vásquez (master’s student).

Luis Miranda shared after the win: “We found out about the event on social media, and it was a very fun and challenging experience, and the fact that it took place at the Google offices made it even better. After winning first place, we won a Nintendo Switch, and we were thrilled with the prize because we left it at the IALAB (Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of DCC UC) and we enjoy it in our free time”.
