Plataforma Telar

The Telar platform is an interdisciplinary initiative from the IMFD that incorporates the stories and opinions of various social actors, and analyzes whether these perspectives were reflected in the constitutional debate, the media, and social networks within the context of the Chilean constitutional process.

Proyecto

Telar brings together researchers, professionals, and students from the social sciences, computer science, and technology transfer. It applies a methodological approach called Thick Data, which connects traditional social science techniques with others from data science and artificial intelligence to collect, systematize, and analyze information from different sources.

The opinions of the social actors who joined Telar were gathered through a web application for citizen consultation, developed by the Innovation and Technology Transfer Division (DITT) of the IMFD, which made it possible to collect participants’ views immediately. Thanks to a partnership with CNN Chile, the platform made periodic reports available to society and included active feedback to communities, through actions ranging from the development of educational and informational materials to citizen engagement workshops. The information gathered through the process was structured in TelarKG, a multilayer knowledge graph hosted on MillenniumDB.
