ACM honors Marcelo Arenas as part of Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations

As part of Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations, the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) recognized Marcelo Arenas, an academic at the Department of Computer Science and the Institute of Mathematical and Computational Engineering at UC, and a researcher at Millennium Institute Foundational Research on Data IMFD).

The Association for Computing Machinery is the most prestigious organization in the field of computing and information technology worldwide. It brings together educators, researchers, and professionals to inspire dialogue, share resources, and address challenges in this field.

As highlighted by this organization, in addition to being an ACM Fellow and Distinguished Member of the ACM—two honors held by only five Latin Americans—Marcelo Arenas conducts essential research covering data management, the semantic web, database systems, and applications of logic in computer science.

It should be noted that Marcelo Arenas has also participated as a guest expert in the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and according to Google Scholar, his articles have received more than 12,000 citations.
