Data School in R, Tutorial 2

On Monday, January 7, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tutorial 2 of the R Data Analysis School will take place, taught by George Vega Yon, PhD Candidate in Biostatistics, University of Southern California (USC), USA. Master’s in Science, Caltech (USA). Master’s in Economics and Public Policy, Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez, Chile. His research focuses on Computational Statistics applied to the modeling of biological and socio-technical systems, such as the evolution of genetic functions and social networks.

The workshop is open to all interested parties, but an intermediate knowledge of R is recommended to get the most out of the content. It will take place in room C201, Building C (Construcción Civil), San Joaquín Campus, Pontificia Universidad Católica (Vicuña Mackenna 4860, Macul. San Joaquín metro station).

Tutorial 2 Content:

Although R was not designed with High Performance Computing (HPC) in mind, thanks to the productive R user community, there are several ways in which it can be used to solve problems making use of HPC.

This workshop will provide a general overview of what can be done in this area with R, with an emphasis on parallel computing applications, in addition to presenting some of the available tools.

The session will be developed as a mix of presentation and work blocks. Attendees are expected to write R programs to solve questions that will be presented throughout the workshop.
