We invite you to take part in the online panel «The Evolution of KG Refinement: Past (Pre-LLM), Present (LLM-Era), and Future», which will bring together four experts to reflect on the evolution of knowledge graph refinement.

Among the panelists is Aidan Hogan, deputy director and faculty member of the Department of Computer Science at Universidad de Chile and alternate director of the Millennium Institute for Foundational Research on Data (IMFD), recognized for his contributions to knowledge graph refinement and data quality. He will be joined by Anna Lisa Gentile (Senior Research Scientist at IBM Research), Irene Celino (Research Line Manager at Cefriel, the research, innovation, and technology transfer center of the Politecnico di Milano, Italy), and Axel Polleres (professor at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Wien), Austria).

The conversation will address the ideas and techniques that defined knowledge graph refinement before LLMs, how these models are transforming different tasks in the field, the strengths and limitations of hybrid symbolic–LLM approaches, the evaluation and reliability of current systems, and the open challenges that will shape the future of the field. The panel will be held in English.

This event is organized by Working Group 2 (Knowledge Graphs Management) of the GOBLIN COST Action, an international research network funded by the European Union, dedicated to developing and supporting large-scale, high-quality, multidisciplinary, and multilingual knowledge graphs that are freely usable, reusable, and shareable.
