Chile already has its four representatives for the 2023 International Olympiad in Informatics.

March 2023.- Matías Nova (Liceo Bicentenario San Nicolás), Diego Rebollo (Colegio Almondale Lomas), Leandro Parada (San Fernando College), and Matías Oteiza (The Greenland School) are the four winners of the national competition who will represent Chile at the 2023 International Olympiad in Informatics, to be held in Hungary from August 28 to September 4.

After intensive training, with a lot of motivation and high standards, the four selected players obtained the best qualifications to attend the international event.

"This is the first time I've competed, as a friend invited me to participate in the OCILabs online workshops, and I also prepared on my own. That's how I got here, and it's been a great experience," said Matías Nova, one of those selected for the IOI and also a gold medalist at the 2022 Chilean Informatics Olympiad (OCI). He lives in the municipality of Coelemu, in the Ñuble region, and is now preparing for the International Olympiad.

The OCI seeks to spark early interest in computing and bring computational thinking closer to students. Its main objective is to discover and nurture young talent early on and encourage them to immerse themselves in the world of programming.

This initiative is led by the Chilean Society for Computer Science and has the collaboration of the Millennium Institute Foundational Research on Data. This year, it received support from the companies SOVOS, NTT DATA, CERO, Synopsys, and the University of Concepción.
