Chile already has its four representatives for the International Informatics Olympiad 2023

They are Matías Nova (Liceo Bicentenario San Nicolás), Diego Rebollo (Colegio Almondale Lomas), Leandro Parada (San Fernando College) and Matías Oteiza (The Greenland School): the four selected from the national competition that will be in charge of representing Chile in the International Informatics Olympiad 2023, which will take place in Hungary from August 28 to September 4.

After intensive, highly motivated and demanding training, the four selected athletes obtained the best qualifications to attend the international event.

"This is the first time I compete because a friend invited me to participate in the OCILabs online workshops and I also prepared on my own. That's how I got here and it has been a great experience," said Matias Nova, one of those selected for the IOI and also gold medalist of the Chilean Informatics Olympiad (OCI) 2022, who lives in the commune of Coelemu, Ñuble region, and today is already preparing for the International Olympiad.

The OCI seeks to awaken early interest in computing and bring computational thinking to students. Its main objective is to discover and empower young talents early and encourage them to immerse themselves in the world of programming.

This initiative is led by the Chilean Society of Computer Science and counts with the collaboration of the Millennium Institute of Computer Science. Millennium Institute Foundational Research on Data. This year it was supported by the companies SOVOS, NTT DATA, CERO, Synopsys, and the Universidad de Concepción .
