IMFD students win Hackathon “Data Challenge in the Cloud”

September 2024. The hackathon was held at Google's offices in Chile with the following sponsors in attendance: Le WagonKaggle , andGoogle Cloud, with the aim of taking the learning and application of cloud and data science technologies to a new level in our region.

The first-place winners of the hackathon were: Luis Miranda and Cristobal Vásquez, students from the UC Department of Computer Science and the Millennium Institute Foundational Research on Data, along with UC DCC studentsOscar Loch and Rodrigo Pozo (master's student),Cristobal Vásquez (master's student).

After the victory, Luis Mirandashared: "We found out about the competition on social media, and it was a very entertaining and challenging experience, and the fact that it took place at Google's offices made it even more special. After winning first place, we won a Nintendo Switch, and we were delighted with the prize because we left it at IALAB (the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at DCC UC) and enjoyed it in our free time."
