IMFD Students Win “Data Challenge in the Cloud” Hackathon

September 2024.- The hackathon was held at Google‘s offices in Chile with the presence of the sponsors: Le Wagon, Kaggle and Google Cloud, with the aim of taking the learning and application of cloud technologies and data science to a new level in our region.

The winners of first place in the hackathon were: Luis Miranda and Cristobal Vásquez, students from the Department of Computer Science UC and the Millennium Institute for Foundational Research on Data (IMFD), along with DCC UC students Oscar Loch and Rodrigo Pozo (master’s student), Cristobal Vásquez (master’s student).

Luis Miranda, after the win, shared: “We found out about the event through social media, and it was a very fun and challenging experience, and having it be at Google’s offices made it even better. After winning first place, we won a Nintendo Switch, and we were thrilled with the prize because we left it at the IALAB (Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of DCC UC) and we enjoy it in our free time.”
