The director of the Millennium Institute Foundational Research on Data, Juan , together with the executive director of the IMFD, Camila Díaz, participated in the first day of the program on the Exchange of Experiences in Digital Transformation in Health, organized by the Ministry of Health and the World Bank, to learn about Chile's experience in digital transformation in health and exchange knowledge.
Delegations from the province of Buenos Aires in Argentina, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic are participating in the meeting, including Yudelka Batista, Deputy Minister of Strengthening and Development of the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance of the Dominican Republic.
At the presentation of Millennium Institute Foundational Research on Data, the work carried out in the field of health, both in academia and in innovation and technology transfer, was unveiled in the talk "Data science applied to health: from the origin of data to its use and social impact." For the director of the IMFD, "it is a great honor to have been invited, as we were the only research center to participate in the event. We had the opportunity to present the work carried out at the IMFD, which provides concrete tools based on data science and adapted to the needs of our country."

The acting Minister of Health, Bernardo Martorell, opened the meeting, emphasizing that "we face many challenges in digital transformation which, if we can align them, will greatly benefit our users, professionals, and healthcare teams. That is why we are convinced that a proactive agenda on this issue, on this transformation, is essential," he said.
For his part, Gianluca Cafagna, Senior Health Specialist at the World Bank, stressed that digital transformation is essential to continue advancing toward universal health coverage in Latin America and the Caribbean. "Countries share the vision of digitally transforming their health systems, and in this context, the exchange of experiences is key to promoting progress. We thank Chile for welcoming us and sharing the lessons it has learned from working for several years on its digital health roadmap."
The delegations will visit different health facilities in the country, and subsequently, a summary of the lessons learned from the program and the multiple experiences will be prepared to create a projection of the steps to be taken to transform the health sector in each country.
