Research analyzes the biographies of Chilean men and women on Wikipedia
August 2024. A study led by Pablo Beytía analyzed 9,000 biographies of Chileans on Wikipedia, revealing gaps in content. Only 19.2% are women and 0.2% are transgender. The presentation of the study included a forum with the participation of Aidan Hogan, alternate director of the IMFD and director of the DCC U. Chile, Carla Toro, head of training and technology at Wikimedia Chile, Patricia Díaz, executive director of Wikimedia Chile, and the author of the research, Pablo Beytía, ISUC / Monitor Social.

This analysis focused on more than 9,000 biographies of Chileans on Wikipedia, investigating how social memory about Chile is organized on the Internet.
Trends and content gaps were identified across different generations and occupational domains, such as politics, science, art, and sports.

- In the 20th century, artists are the most remembered, and currently athletes.
- Of all the biographies of Chileans available on Wikipedia, only 19.2% are of women, 80.6% are of men, and 0.2% are of People .
- The biographies available in the most languages are: Pablo Neruda (160 languages), Salvador Allende (122), Gabriela Mistral (119), Augusto Pinochet (118), and Michelle Bachelet (113).
