Ricardo Baeza-Yates is appointed new member of the Academia Europaea.

Highlighting his scientific career, the academic DCC U. Chile and senior researcher at the IMFD, Ricardo Baeza-Yates, was appointed as a new member of the Academia Europaea (in Latin) on October 10, during the annual Building Bridges 2023 Annual Conference, in Munich. "It is an academy at the European level for outstanding researchers, where I have been considered among the best researchers in Europe, since I have the affiliation in Barcelona, and today they host more than 5,500 members, " says the researcher.

This appointment not only represents a recognition of the impact of his work in the field of research and his contribution to the scientific community. The Academia Europaea aims to promote and disseminate excellence in research worldwide, for the benefit of the public and for the advancement of education of all ages. The Academy includes diverse areas such as humanities; law; economic sciences; social and political sciences; mathematics; medicine and all branches of natural and technological sciences. 

Ricardo Baeza-Yates holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, Canada. University of Waterloo, Canada. He has an extensive and distinguished career in the field of computer science both in Chile and internationally. Currently, he is Research Director of the Institute for Experiential Artificial Intelligence at Northeastern University, in the United States, as well as part-time Professor in the Departments of Information and Communication Technologies at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona and Computer Science at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. Computer Science at the University of Chile, where he is also a Senior Researcher of thewhere he is also Senior Researcher at the Millennium Institute Foundational Research on Data (IMFD).
