Successful regional phase of the Chilean Informatics Olympiad
October, 2023.- With the participation of more than 130 students at 10 sites across the country, the Regional Phase of the Chilean Informatics Olympiad was held. Those who took part at the sites in Arica, Coquimbo, Valparaíso, Santiago, Rancagua, Talca, Chillán, Concepción, Temuco and Puerto Montt, in addition to the online site, competed for four hours to secure their spot in the national final, which this year will be held on December 15 and 16 in Santiago.
Thirty-four competitors achieved qualification on this occasion. First place, with a score of 360 points, went to Han Yu Yang, who competed online. With a score of 265 points, second place went to Francisco Pinhao, a student at The English Institute, in Santiago; and third place, with 245 points, went to Enzo Vivallo, from Instituto Ramón Freire, in Santiago, and Amelia Fernández from Instituto Abdón Cifuentes, in San Felipe.
The Chilean Informatics Olympiad has been held since 2013, organized by the Sociedad Chilena de Ciencia de la Computación with the support of the Millennium Institute Foundational Research on Data (IMFD) and sponsorship from NTT Data, Huawei, Cero, Synopsys and País Digital.
The OCI is part of the outreach activities to the external community supported by the Iniciativa Científica Milenio.
