Three IMFD researchers were recognized by Ingeniería UC at the San Agustín Ceremony

At its annual ceremony, the UC School of Engineering honored Jocelyn Dunstan, Hans Löbel, and Juan Reutter. The recognitions included two promotions to the rank of associate professor, an award for engineering education, and a distinction for frontier research and impact.

On August 14, as part of the traditional San Agustín Ceremony, the UC School of Engineering (Universidad Católica) presented its annual recognitions to the academic community. Among those honored were three IMFD researchers, affiliated with the Departamento de Ciencia de la Computación (DCC UC), the Instituto de Ingeniería Matemática y Computacional (IMC UC), and the Departamento de Ingeniería de Transporte y Logística.

Jocelyn Dunstan and Hans Löbel were promoted to the rank of associate professor. This recognition acknowledges their years of research, teaching, and student mentorship.

Along with her promotion, Dunstan also received the “Engineering Education” award, granted for the creation of the general education course “Artificial Intelligence: Science and Society,” an initiative that brings debates surrounding AI closer to students from different disciplines.

Löbel, for his part, was also honored for his 10 years of service to the School.

Meanwhile, the director of the Millennium Institute Foundational Research on Data (IMFD) and academic at DCC UC and IMFD UC, Juan Reutter, received the 2026 Frontier Research and Impact Recognition, for his contributions to the development of innovative research at the national and international levels.

The recognitions were presented at the San Agustín Ceremony, an occasion during which the dean of the UC School of Engineering, Loreto Valenzuela, also delivered her public accountability report.
