Registration is now open for the 2023 OCI
October, 2023.- The Chilean Informatics Olympiad (OCI) opens registration for the 2023 edition, which will feature a mandatory first qualifying phase, to be held simultaneously at 11 venues throughout Chile on Saturday, October 21.
The Chilean Informatics Olympiad is a programming competition for students from 7th grade to 12th grade, in which participants must solve problems using programming. It consists of a series of timed competitions, in which a set of 4 or more problems must be solved, testing knowledge of computer science, algorithms, logic, mathematics, programming techniques, among others.
Competitors must write programs that solve the problems, which will be evaluated by assigning points according to how good the submitted solution is. The accepted programming languages are C++ and Java.
This year’s competition will be held in stages: In the first phase, a competition will be held simultaneously at the national level, taking place on Saturday, October 21, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., as part of the Chilean Computing Conference (JCC). This competition will be held simultaneously at 11 in-person venues:
- Arica: Universidad de Tarapacá
- Coquimbo: Universidad Central
- Valparaíso: Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María
- Santiago:
- Rancagua: Universidad de O’Higgins
- Talca: Universidad Católica del Maule
- Chillán: Universidad del Bío-Bío
- Concepción: Universidad Católica de la Santísima Concepción
- Temuco: Universidad Católica de Temuco
- Puerto Montt: Universidad Austral de Chile
Additionally, in this edition of the OCI, an online venue will be implemented for those interested who cannot participate in person: online participation will only be accepted for students whose region of residence does not have a registered venue, or whose venue no longer has available spots. Those who require an exception for some reason of force majeure may write to corporacionc100@gmail.com to request a review of their case.
From this regional competition, the students who will participate in the second phase, the national final, will qualify, which will take place on December 15 and 16.
At this final in December, the national champions are decided, and the team that will receive special training is also formed, from which the national team will emerge to represent Chile at the 2024 International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) in the city of Alexandria, Egypt.

The Chilean Informatics Olympiad has been held since 2013, organized by the Chilean Computer Science Society. This edition is organized by the Chilean Computer Science Society, with the support of the Millennium Institute for Foundational Research on Data (IMFD) and sponsorship from NTT Data, Huawei, Cero, Synopsys, and País Digital.
The OCI is part of the outreach activities to the external community supported by the Millennium Scientific Initiative.
