“Irresponsible AI” Conference by Professor Ricardo Baeza-Yates

Can artificial intelligence really be responsible?

In this conference, Professor Ricardo Baeza-Yates, recently awarded the Luiz André Barroso Award by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), also a Senior Researcher at IMFD, will analyze some of the main challenges posed by AI today: discrimination; pseudoscience; technological and human limitations; indiscriminate use of natural resources; and the impact of generative AI on misinformation, mental health, and copyright issues.

Based on these cases, he will address three key pillars for moving toward responsible AI:
1) ethics and governance
2) regulation
3) cognitive biases

The conference, organized by the Chilean Academy of Engineering, in collaboration with REUNA, will close with a reflection on current initiatives and the challenges ahead.
