Aidan Hogan

Full Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Chile, where he also served as Director from July 2024 to July 2026. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Galway, Ireland. He arrived in Chile in 2013 after working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Digital Enterprise Research Institute (DERI, Galway). At the IMFD, he is Deputy Director and a member of the Emerging Requirements research group.

His work focuses on the Semantic Web and knowledge graphs: how to structure and connect scattered information so that it can be queried and interpreted at scale. He is the co-author of *Knowledge Graphs* (Springer, 2021) and author of *The Web of Data* (Springer, 2020), a textbook for computer science courses.

He is a co-founder and editor-in-chief of the journal Transactions on Graph Data and Knowledge, an open-access journal, and has served on the program committees of international conferences such as AAAI, CIKM, ESWC, ICDT, IJCAI, ISWC, SIGKDD, SIGMOD, and WWW. He has been recognized as Best UNDERGRADUATE Teacher UNDERGRADUATE the University of Chile in 2016 and 2020, based on evaluations by the students themselves. In 2026, he received the SIGMOD Outstanding Program Committee Member for his work as a reviewer. That same year, Research.com ranked him among the top four researchers in Chile in Computer Science in the Best Computer Science Scientists in Chile.
