Pablo Barceló

Professor at the Pontifical Catholic University, where he is also director of the Institute of Mathematical and Computational Engineering. PhD in Computer Science from the University of Toronto, Canada.

Until recently, he was alternate director of Millennium Institute Foundational Research on Data, and previously held the same position at the Semantic Web Research Center (CIWS), which later gave rise to the current Millennium Institute Foundational Research on Data. He is the author of more than 70 technical papers and has been a member of the program committees of the most important conferences on databases and logic in computer science, such as ACM PODS, SIGMOD, ICDT, LICS, and STACS.

He is currently a member of the editorial board of Logical Methods in Computer Science and will be president of the ICDT conference in 2019, as well as chair of ACM PODS 2022. He was also editor of the database theory column in SIGMOD Record between 2011 and 2014. His areas of interest are database theory, logic for computer science, and the emerging relationship between the two areas and machine learning.
